It has come to my attention that at least one person has looked at this blog in the past month. So, I think that constitutes an update!
As is evident by the infrequent postings, University Theatre has been very busy! Each day brings us closer to moving into the new space and opening a brand new season! It is all very exciting and very time consuming.
Currently, our students are working hard on our upcoming production, NEVER THE SINNER.
As I mentioned, things are coming into place as we think about our move back into the Frank Thompson Building. The University Theatre staff's summer will likely be filled with boxes, packing peanuts, sweat and hopefully no blood or tears. We are in the process of filling all those empty offices with fresh new faces who are ready to hit the ground running and create our stunning new season of shows.
The selection of the 0910 season still continues but once we have it finalized - you will be the first to know. Well, we'll be the first to know, but you will come in close second.
We thank everyone for their continued support and attendance at University Theatre productions and look forward to celebrating the new Frank Thompson Building with all of you.
Keep visiting, and I'll keep posting...

The production is based on the Leopold and Loeb story, which actually got some recent press in the Smithsonian Magazine if you happen to run across that. The story focuses on the relationship of the two men and the drama that surrounds their involvment in the "crime of the century" eventhough it took place in 1924 and there were "75 years to go" (as the cast of RAGTIME may put it) until the end of the century. Terri Janney will be coming back to NCSU to direct the show. It will run Feb 18 - 22, 2009 in Stewart Theatre. Call Ticket Central for tickets at 515.1100. Student tickets are only $5!

Christmas Belles and other news

It has been a while since I have posted. This blogging thing takes up more time than I thought! University Theatre is well under way with their Christmas Belles rehearsals and it should be quite a rollicking good time. Don't forget that we will be having a cookie and punch reception at intermission for each show, sponsored by Catering Works.
This show is written by the same authors that wrote Dearly Departed, the hit of University Theatre's season last year. Plan on getting your tickets now, in case they sell-out again!
The Frank Thompson building continues to undergo its renovations. We still plan on opening the doors next spring and hope there won't be any hiccups along the way!
The staff is already planning for next season and we hope to get back to our regular number of shows and really take advantage of our new spaces!
Be sure to stay updated by checking out our website www.ncsu.edu/theatre.

Vote September 29 & 30, 2008

Hey, the ARTS called and they want your vote.
Ok people, it is time to vote for the ARTS on campus. The Student Center Operations fee proposal can be found at
ncsu.edu/student_affairs/feereview/video08/
This link will provide you with the Student Center's video proposal as well as powerpoints and pdf's galore about what we, the Student Centers, need to operate and provide programming for our students. The Student Center Operations fee includes all of the ARTS as well as several other organizations that benefit you and that are housed under student affairs ( which = all the fun stuff on campus you get to participate in...).
On September 29 and 30 go to: vote.ncsu.edu and approve the Student Center's fee proposal so we can be better prepared to serve you guys. I'll even create a Facebook event out of it, so you just have to click in the event and invite others to vote too. You can find us on Facebook under NCSU University Theatre.
